This weeks game of the week is Ox4 vs Delusions of Grandeur. These 2 are the hotest teams in in the league. Ox4 is trying to become the 1st team to go 6-0. Delusions is on fire and looking like a foot in for the playoffs.
Based on the poll on CBS everyone thinks that Ox4 is going to loose this game. I think its going to be a very close game but I think it will come down to the running backs performance between these 2 to decide the winner.
Delusions has never won a game against Ox4, will this be his 1st time?
Definitely tune in to this one...its a good one!

Coach Speak - Scrappers
This weeks Coach is Scrappers. See what interesting things I sound off on this week.
Fantasy
Well this year has been interesting so far. I was very pleased with what I drafted but disappointed in a few of my key draft picks. My 1st and 2nd round pick this year (Michael Turner & Clinton Portis) have not done what I expected of them. However my late round back up Cedric Benson has done great for me. I had a lot of confidence going into the season but now sitting at 2-2; I am just hoping to get to the playoffs. I need to make better decisions about my QB position if I want to get there. My coaching decisions this year have been pretty terrible and I hope to get it back on track this coming week. I need to if I want a chance at playoffs.
As far as the other teams, there has been some surprises and some normal stuff. Caps Lock It Up is still up to his old tricks of drafting people then dropping them...He never gets off of the waiver wire. I am shocked that 1570 is 3-1. I never thought he would have that good of a start this season. Pimps with Limps I thought was really going to start out better this year but sitting a disappointing 1-3 is not good news for him.
NFL
This has been an exciting and surprising year. Who would have thought that Jets, Denver, 49ers, Carolina, and Bengals. I thought Jets would be OK and 49ers would make a big leap forward. However I thought Denver,Carolina & Bengals would have been terrible this year. I am super happy to see New England not looking like they can murder everyone and Dallas sucking it up. I am very disappointing in Washington and hope that everyone gets fired at the end of the year...including the owner!!!
Misc.
I am pleasantly surprised with how well the reception of the blog has been and the website. I enjoy checking the website and updating the blog..Thanks for visiting!

Game of the Week (WK4)
This weeks game of the week is Ox4 vs Pressure. These 2 have had some great matches. Pressure is up on Ox4 by 1 game. This is Ox4's chance to tie up the series. They both are the only undefeated teams in the league. I wonder who will be left standing?
Based on the poll on CBS everyone thinks it is going to be a close game. Pressure is up by 1 vote currently. It is a toss up on who is going to win this game. I think Ox4 has it.
Definitely tune in to this one...it should be close!

This month is breast cancer awareness month. The chance of a woman having invasive breast cancer some time during her life is a little less 1 in 8. The chance of dying from breast cancer is about 1 in 35. The number of deaths from breast cancer have been going down due to early detection. It is important for every woman of every age to get checked on a regular basis.
In honor of breast cancer awareness month, the NFL is doing big things this year to raise awareness and raise money for a cure. You will be seeing many players wearing pink shoes, gloves, etc. The NFL Network is honoring breast cancer month by wearing pink ribbons and pink ties.
The NFL is auctioning off many items on the NFL Auction website. Visit the link below to get some cool NFL stuff and donate to a good cause.

The Buzz (Wk3)
There is a lot of Buzz going around the league this week. Here is a few highlights.
We will be featuring the Oakland Raiders, New York Jets, and Pittsburg Steelers.
Oakland Raiders: Raiders defensive assistant Randy Hanson told Napa police that coach Tom Cable struck him and broke his jaw during training camp. Hanson's lawyer said it was "a textbook case of felony assault". He said that Hanson spoke with the Bay Area Police for over 90 minutes on Friday and turned over all medical records. Hanson's lawyer did say that they are not sure if there will be charges. Randy Hanson was not at the game on Sunday.
As if Oakland did not have enough problems going on, the last thing they needed was for their head coach to be in legal trouble. I wonder what the commissioner is going to do as punishment to Tom Cable?
New York Jets: Rex Ryan benched David Clowney Sunday due to some comments he made on twitter(once again people saying stupid things on twitter...) Here is what Clowney said after week 2's game..
"1 play in the 1st Half, 4 plays in the 2nd half,.... A bit disappointed about my playing time but very happy and satisfied about the win. Just time to work harder for next week ... My team always comes first so I'm a just keep grinding,.. And we gonna keep winning"
Here is what Rex had to say about benching Clowney over the tweet.
"I'm not a big Twitter guy, but you hear different things. To me, it's about your team. No individual is bigger than the team. So if I feel a guy is not putting the team first, then I'll make the decision to put the guy down.
"I put David down. That was my decision. I wanted to see how David would respond. David had two options: He could have come out and been upset and pouted or he could come out and been a Jet, worked his tail off and showed me that he wants to do it our way.
He did exactly that. He was phenomenal in preparation. I'll probably give him scout team player of the week."
Rex said he will be playing during the game this week.
I wonder if he spends most of the time on the bench if he will be tweeting again?
Pittsburg Steelers: It looks as though Mike Tomlin is making some personal changes. Tomlin said he was concerned about Limas Sweed's struggle to catching the football. He state that he many not even dress Sweed for Sunday's game against San Diego. When asked if he would consider moving Shaun McDonald in , who has been inactive for 2 weeks, he said "Absolutely".
Tomlin did not let Rashard Mendenhall start during last weeks game due to bad practice during the week. Tomlin said that he wanted to make a point to Mendenhall and expects him to perform better this week.
After 2 unexpected losses it looks as though Tomlin is trying to keep everyone motivated and getting the right people on the field to win a game.

Coach Speak
We are adding a new feature to the blog, called "Coach Speak". Every Monday. I hope to have some guest bloggers from the league to let them sound off on everything from the league, other teams, and the nfl. Look for this to start next week!

Game of the Week (WK3)
This weeks' Game of the Week is Ox4 vs Scrappers. This game is the only game between 2 2-0 teams. Both of these teams broke 100 points last week with big showings from their wide receiver squad. Ox4 has a leads on the head-to-head by one game. Scrappers have a chance to tie the series up.
Based on the picks this week by fellow WCW members. They expect Scrappers to win. I have to agree with my fellow WCW members, I think Scrappers has this win. Most of Ox4's team is questionable for this week so we may see alot of his bench showing up to the game.
It should be a great game!

Twitter Strikes Again!
That's right folks...It looks as though Twitter is making as many headlines as the injuries. It seems as though players have not figured out yet their their Twitter remarks are the same as press conference remarks. They all come back to bite you...(even brother's accounts).
Washington Redskins: Rookie linebacker Robert Henson has yet to play in a regular season game for the Redskins but he is drawing lots of attention from his teammates and his coach after tweeting about the boos that accompanied the 9-7 win over St. Louis on Sunday.
After the game, Henson tweeted: "All you fake half hearted Skins fan can . . . I won't go there but I dislike you very strongly, don't come to Fed Ex to boo dim wits!!"
He also wrote: "The question is who are you to say you know what's best for the team and you work 9 to 5 at McDonalds."
As always he apologized later..
"I understand the weight that my words carried and, you know, how I offended some fans," he told reporters at Redskins Park.
Jim Zorn had this to say...
"Robert is a young player learning to handle his emotions during and after the game," Zorn said in a statement released by the Redskins. "When he gets a chance to play, I want him to have this level of emotion on the field, not off the field."
Arizona Cardinals: It seems that even family members can cause problems with their twitter accounts. The brother of Larry Fitzgerald Marcus tweeted multiple insults about Kurt Warner throughout the game on Sunday because he was not throwing the ball enough to Larry. Many reporters have speculated that Larry was unhappy about it due to his body language on the side of the field Sunday. However, Fitzgerald took the high road and said his body language was from exhaustion. However, the tweet that really has Fitzgerald in trouble is this one...
"Just got off the phone with my brother. he's happy about the win. But PISSED he didn't get the ball thrown 2 him much!"
It seems that players and their family members need to remember that twitter is available to anyone, including reporters. Therefore, what you say can and probably will become mainstream news. Any easy way for them to look at it is...if you wouldn't say it in a press conference don't say it on twitter... What do you think?

The Buzz (Wk2)
There is a lot of Buzz going around the league this week. Here is a few highlights.
We will be featuring the NFLPA, Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, and Tennessee Titans
NFLPA: The NFL Player's Association is increasing its dues from $10,000 to $15,000 for the 09' and 10' seasons in order to create a "dues lock-out fund". This only affects the player's not the agents. In addition to the fee above, players who are eligible to receive the licensing royalty payments due them by NFL Players, Inc will have their dues increased by that amount as well. This is about a $15,000 increase to what they had been paying. The NFLPA's statement said this increase was to create a fund in which they can pay players out of in case there is a lockout for the 2011 season. This is concerning to many fans, as there has seem to be no movement whatsoever on labor talks. It looks as though the NFLPA believes there will be no football during the 2011 season.
Cleveland Browns: Eric Mangini is handing down some harsh fines lately. He fined a player $1,701 for taking a water bottle from the team's road hotel during the preseason. Mangini had this to say about the fine ''I make no apologies for demanding a high level of personal conduct.'' He has been under fire lately for his policy's and fines. He has handed down a few fines around $1,700. Mangini would not discuss the fines in detail but did have this to say..
''I don't like taking players' money, but the rules are in place because we're a very diverse group of people,'' Mangini said. ''The rules are set up to make sure we can operate as effectively as possible. They're clearly laid out, they're clearly explained, expectations are explained. I don't ask anybody to do anything that anybody else in society isn't asked to do, that normal, mature people aren't asked to do. When we go to hotels, we pay incidentals. We don't park in handicapped spots, we don't park in fire lanes, we don't park in somebody else's spot. I don't think the equipment guy or the secretary deserves any less respect than anybody else in the organization. I believe people should be mature and approach things in a responsible way. I'm going to keep believing that, I'm going to keep demanding that we have mature, responsible people as part of the Browns.''
There has been some concerns that his strict policies may lead players away and make it hard for the Browns to sign free agents. Mangini had this to say about that..
''I understand things can be presented in a lot of different ways, but I've clearly articulated to the players why we have rules and regulations,'' Mangini said. ''There's a grievance system. But I also believe that everybody deserves the same respect and everybody should be responsible. I wouldn't want my mother or my sister to come to a place where they were treated any differently.''
It seems as though he has set a precedence and plans on sticking to it. If the players are not on board there may be more problems than their poor performance Sunday to worry about.
Denver Broncos: There is more trouble brewing in Denver. During Sunday's win against the Cleveland Browns; Josh McDaniels decided to leave Brandon Marshall on the sideline for 27 plays (little over a quarter). Josh McDainels said Monday that there was no specific reason that Marshall did not play more other than that the team has "a lot of guys that deserve to play." and "That's how we're going to play, Period." Eddie Royal agreed with the coaches decision. He said he was surprised to hear that Brandon was not in that long but he figured the coaches were comfortable with the receivers they had in the game -- himself, Gaffney, and Stockley. Eddie had this to say...
"You want to stick with the group that's moving the ball, It's the way the rotation played out."
Brandon Marshall has not commented on the situation was not available to the press after the game in the locker room.
It seems as though the relationship between the Broncos and Marshall is completely gone. Do you think if they continue to win games that they will trade Marshall? It seems as though they feel confident in the other receivers they have.
Tennessee Titans: It looks that the 0-2 start for the Titans is to hard for them to handle. The always collected Titans run by Jeff Fisher is showing some signs of cracking. After the lose Sunday to Houston cornerback Nick Harper had this to say..."There were some plays that happened on my side, and (the Texans) flip-flopped and ran the exact same play on the other side and we still didn't get any stops,'' Harper said. "That tells me we didn't make any corrections on the sideline but they made all the corrections, and that hurt us.''
On Sunday Jeff Fisher made the comment that adjustments were made on the sidelines but were not executed on the field. However, Monday it seems as though he is trying to back track on that statement. See what he had to say below...
"Let me set the record straight here: When you are a good football team and you start off the season (0-2) there is going to be frustration, OK? And the only way you get out of it is you avoid pointing fingers at anybody,'' Fisher said."Everybody accepts the blame and you move on. There were adjustments made on the sideline for each and every thing that we saw. There was an adjustment made for that last big pass that they made, I heard it. The players alluding to the fact that we're having trouble making adjustments need to pay better attention to what is going on on the sideline.''
It looks as though Titans are starting to fall apart. The once tightly oiled machine that Fisher coached is having problems handling being 0-2. Does this spell trouble for the rest of the year?
See you next Tuesday for another round of "The Buzz".

Steve Smith Mic'd Up!
There is some "controversy" spreading around the league, especially the Charlotte area about some comments that Steve Smith (WR for Carolina Panthers) made while he was mic'd up for the 1st game of the season.
Steve Smith says, "I never really liked you as a quarterback. But as a person . . . I love you as a person." after Jake apologizes for his play during the game.
This was done after Jake Delhomme (QB for Carolina Panthers) had thrown his 4 INTs and was benched. Many news sources are saying that he was out of line and should not have said this remark. Others are saying he was being serious. There are a slight few who are saying he was just messing around with his friend and it didn't mean much.
Watch below and see what you think...
The remark is made around the 2:53 point.
Now that you have seen the video, what do you think? Do you think everyone is making a big deal out of nothing? I personally think he was just joking around and talking junk to him like anyone does to another person that they are good friends with. Obviously Jake didn't seem to take it to mean much. Looks like "controversy" over nothing to me (the news seems to do this a lot).

Game of the Week (WK2)
This weeks' Game of the Week is Minimes vs 1570. This game is the only game between 2 1-0 teams. Both of these teams broke 100 points in their 1st game and won by a good margin. These teams have only met one other time; which Minimes won.
Based on the picks this week by fellow WCW members. They expect Minimes to win. I have to agree with my fellow WCW members, I think Minimes has this win. I think the QBs will decide tihs win and I believe Brees is going to have the better game.
It should be a great game!

Fan's Going to Far?
Are fan's going to far? Buffalo Bills cornerback Leodis McKelvin came on Tuesday morning to an obscenity and the score of Monday night's game -- a 25-24 loss to the Patriots -- painted in white on his front lawn. If you remember right, McKelvin is the person who fumbled the kickoff during the last 1:30 of the game, that lead to great field position for New England Patriots.
This seemed to really upset a few players on the Buffalo team. Kawika Mitchell had this to say via Twitter...
"With all the safety issues n the NFL its not funny at all," Mitchell wrote. "We have Fam at our homes to protect. If u show ur face on my prop Ill make sure I do everythin to keep my Fam safe."
McKelvin has said that he is not going to press charges and he still thinks that Buffalo has some of the best fans.
I think that this is going a little far. I love football but vandalizing their homes is going a little far. What do you think? Going to far?

QB Surprises!!
There was a lot of quarterback surprises this week, both good and bad. Below I break down the the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Let's first chat about the bad...
Donovan McNabb fractured his ribs Sunday in the 3rd quarter during the Carolina game. It is unknown at this time how long he will be out. The estimate currently is 2 weeks. That spells trouble for Ox4 who's #1 QB was Donovan.
Kurt Warner had a dismile performance during Sunday's game against the 49ers. It looks as though that hip surgery he had during offseason is affecting his performance, even though Arizona argues that he is alright. With only 288 yards and 1 TD with 2 INT's I would sit him this coming week considering he is going from West to East. I think his performance is only the beginning of bad performances.
2nd the ugly...
Matt Schaub had a terrible performance. One of the fantasy quarterbacks who is considered to be a top 5 pick if he would not get hurt did not perform like one. He only had 166 yards with 1 INT. It could possibly be his ankle injury that he suffered during the 2nd preseason game that his holding him back. He is looking like a terrible draft pick and needs to be replaced. As a fantasy owner, you will not win many games with him as your starting QB.
Jay Cutler looked embarrassing. He was touted as the Savior of the Bears. The franchise QB they have been looking for all these years. What does he return? A terrible performance of 277 yards, 1TD, and 4 INTs. That's right folks...4 INTs. I do not see him doing anything miraculous in Chicago, their best wide receiver is Hester, who is a kicker returner. And with the Steeler's coming up this week, it may get worse. I would be sitting him this week.
And because I like to end on a good note here is the good...
Joe Flacco had an amazing game. He put up a surprising 29 points in his 1st game of the season. He was not even drafted by the league. CapsLockItUp signed him on the waiver wire late last week. He seems like a good pickup if he can keep this up. I think he has more good games to come.
Mark Sanchez had a good game. His 1st Pro football game looked good. He did not show any signs of being a rookie. His numbers were good but I was impressed with how well he handled an INT for a touchdown (came back and drove them down the field for a touchdown) and the 2minute warning. I think he has a lot of upside.
**NOTE: I left the worst QB play out b/c I think it has already been talked about way more than any of us here in Carolina want to hear anymore.***

The Buzz
I am adding a new feature to the blog. Every Tuesday I am going to post the latest Buzz (rumors) around the league. It will talk about rumors coming from all areas including on the field and off the field. I hope this is helpful when making some of those fantasy moves.
This week we are going to talk about the following NFL Teams: Washington Redskins, Tennessee Titans, and Buffalo Bills.
1st up Washington Redskins:
There is news flying around the league that the Redskins may be moving to more two tight end sets. 2nd year tight end Fred Davis has made major strides since his rookie season. He is looking to start contributing more to the team. Campbell had this to say about Fred, "I've been saying all along we need everybody, and Fred will be involved in what we're trying to do, Fred is one of the young guys we're expecting to see step up." Davis had this to say, "After last year, I just wanted to work hard and show the coaching staff I'm ready to do this, I feel like I've done that. I'm ready to do what I need to do if I'm out there with Chris, and I know what I need to know if they need me to be in there for Chris, I'm ready." These two quotes lead me to believe that we may be seeing more of Fred Davis. If he makes some big plays it may be trouble for Chris Cooley's production in fantasy this year. It is definitely something to keep an eye on.
2nd up Tennessee Titans:
Scaife is making waves in Tennessee. He had some very choice words for James Harrison on the hit he laid on him during their Thursday night game. "I have been playing my whole life and no one has ever hit me like that," Scaife said. "So I know when it is real and when it is not real. So it was a cheap shot and I don't care if that gets back to him either." Based on the rule book the hit was clean. It was very similar to the hit that Maurice Jones-Drew was complaining about the other day. Wide Receivers and Running backs are starting to complain about the hits to the legs. I wonder if the league will make changes to tackling?
3rd up Buffalo Bills:
Buffalo Bills have announced their team captains for the 2009 season and T.O. is not on that list. The offensive captains are Trent Edwards and Lee Evans. The team captains are decided upon by teammates votes. How do you think Terrell Owens took this? Good? Bad? Didn't care?
I hope you enjoyed this week's Buzz.

Draft Review & Thoughts
We had a great turn out for our first live draft, 8 people participated. The others looked to have set their roster so everyone is active this year. There was some surprises this year. Lots of wide receivers went early along with a defense in the 2nd round. 2 of the top 4 running backs made it to the 6th pick. Even the Pressure participated in the early wide receiver picks by picking Randy Moss. <-- This was a shock!
Scrappers and Delusions of Grandeur were the fastest pickers in the draft with all of their picks being done in less than 5 minutes. They seemed to have a game plan and executed it without second thoughts.
Based on a poll on the website most people are happy with how their team turned out. There are only 4 people with either negative or undecided feeling about their teams.
Even with the draft being so close to the start of the season, people hit the waiver wire. Scrapper's picked up Mark Sanchez, Pimps with limps picked up Cardinals DST, Reddoggs picked up Matt Stover, Engima picked up Brent Celek.
Having the draft late this season made for the anticipation of the football season easier. Everyone seemed to really like the live draft format and the late draft. Maybe we will look to doing this again next year.
Overall, everyone got who they were after and are looking forward to the season. I can't wait to see how everything plays out.
Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 3:48 AM
Game of Week (Wk1)
This weeks' Game of the Week is Scrappers vs Engima. This is a replay of a playoff game last year. Both of these teams had a slow start last year, losing their 1st game of the season. Scrappers is up on Engima by one game in the series. This is a chance for Engima to tie it up or for Scrappers to pull ahead even more. It should be a very close game.
Based on the picks this week by fellow WCW members. They expect Engima to win. I think Scrapper's is going to pull it off with the surprise team moves.
It's a great game to begin the season with. Enjoy!

Madden Curse has Struck!!

In the 1st game of the season the Madden Curse strikes again! Troy Polamalu sprained his MCL and is going to be out anywhere from 3-6 weeks. They are running further tests to determine if there was any 0ther damage done. He started out having an all-star game with lots of tackles and an amazing one handed interception. But that all ended when a Titans lineman fell on his leg.
I wonder if Larry Fitzgerald is concerned? I think I would be. The curses seems to be keeping its reputation.
You can see my original post about this here. Madden Curse

Firing Spree?
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fired offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski Thursday and replaced him with Greg Olsen. Marking the second time that Jagodzinski has been fired in 2009. He has not even coached a single game all year but has been fired twice. <-- That would stink!! There is speculation that he was let go because of a disagreement with Morris over who should start as QB this year.
It seems that these new young coaches are coming in and shaking things up. This is the 2nd firing this week by a new head coach (Todd Hailey fired his Offensive Coordinator Chan Gailey). It seems to be risky and strange to let go of such big positions a week before regular season. At least Todd Hailey has an offensive background. Morris does not and is going to be dependent on Olsen to take the reins.
These moves seem risky, if they go bad it is all on the new coach. What do you think? Do you think this was a good move? How do you think this will affect their long term success?
**UPDATE: JeffJagondzinski has released a statement through Tampa Bay Bucs “I am certainly disappointed but I wish nothing but the best for Raheem Morris and the entire Buccaneer organization," Jagodzinski said. "I was given the chance to remain on staff as the quarterbacks coach, but felt that the timing for such a move was not in the best interest for either side. I appreciate the opportunity that was given to me. Again, I wish nothing but the best for this organization.”**
Here is an interesting article about the Bucs - Buc's Fiasco

Inspiring Bruschi Retired
After 13 years in the league and 3 NFL Championships. Teddy Bruschi the linebacker from New England Patriots is retiring.
He was an inspiration to many in football and many outside. He came back from a stroke that he suffered in 2005 after the NFC Championship game. He was an amazing player and the best linebacker Patriots had. He will be missed by the Patriots.
Do you think Paris Lennon will be able to replace Teddy?

Who Let the Dog Out?
That's right! Michael Vick is out and playing for the Philadelphia Eagles tonight! Unfortunately, we will not be able to watch it here in NC but they will be replaying it in NFL network tonight at 11pm. It should be interesting to see. I have heard great things about him and his performance running some unique plays with McNabb.
Do you think he will be of any fantasy value? They say he will be reinstated in less than 6weeks into the season.
Do you think he will affect McNabb's place in Philly? Do you think he will affect McNabb's fantasy value?

I will be doing a recap of the days events, highlights and predictions. So let's get ready for some fantasy football!

Favre & Fantasy

What can Brett Favre contribute to your fantasy team this year? Now that it is official and he is Minnosota Viking. One must ask themselves what can he do for a fantasy team.
What do I think he can do? I think he can make Adrian Peterson the best running back in fantasy without a shadow of a doubt. There can be no doubt that he will be gone with the 1st pick in the 1st round of the draft this year. He has proven over and over that he is a good pick and with a QB that can make defenses think twice about stacking for the run; he is going to be gold.
I usually do not share what my draft day game plan is. But I will tell you now..if I am #1 pick. I am picking him.
As far as Favre himself, well I would not pick him up in the draft. He may be worth some bench time if you can get him out of the free agency. I do not think he is going to be good fantasy stat wise.
Anyone who would not take Peterson 1st pick?
Do you think Favre has more fantasy value than boosting AP?

NFL Twitter Fines
That's right folks. The NFL has started the fines for twitter comments. Charger's cornerback Cromartie was fined $2500 for calling the food at training camp "nasty".
Cromartie had this to say "I just thought it was harmless. It was just me talking about the food and stuff. I took it as a joke. But other people took it as a different kind of way."
I am in no way shape or form a fan of twitter but seriously they fined him for that? I guess they do not want any bad comments coming out of the locker room and Cromartie should have known better, but still. Maybe a warning but a fine? come on. I would have took it as a joke, his lame attempt at being funny. I mean seriously who gives a hoot about what he thinks about the training camp food? Hence why I think twitter is a waste. (off my soap box)
Personally, I think they are just setting a standard and using Cromartie as an example. I wonder what Chad Johnson had to say about it? I am sure he will have lots of fines coming his way if he tweets during games like "he says" he is going to.
Merriman twittered this later that day "And by the way i thought the food was AMAZING today haha yea im a suck up." I wonder if there will be a fine for his sarcasm?

Shanahan Returning to NFL
Mike Shanahan has said that he wants to another head coaching job in the NFL. He says that he has been staying sharp, should the right opportunity arise. So this brings up the big question....
Where will he end up? Who is going to do whatever possible to get him?
My guess Washington Redskins or Dallas Cowboys. Both love to throw money around and both have been making it known that if their coaches don't preform quickly they will replace. So what you do think?
On a fantasy note, if he goes to a team next year...will you bump their running back up on your draft board?

Chad Johnson - Twitter
Well as if the Twitter stuff has not already gotten out of hand! Chad Johnson has officially said that he will defy the NFL by tweeting during NFL games. That is what he said in an interview with SportsFanLive.com; to see the video click here. So look forward to some nice fines and possible suspensions coming his way, if in fact he does it himself....
If you are bored stiff or maybe by into the twitter fad; you can click the link below to go to Chad's twitter page..
But this brings up a good point. Has tweeting gotten out of control in the NFL? NFL Network has a "tweet of the day" now on the NFL Access show; this lets us know that a player had to run through an airport to catch his flight...riveting!! I know that the NFL shows are hard up for things to talk about during the off season but come on. It seems that our whole society is jumping on this bandwagon but can we at least keep it out of the NFL?
Whats your opinion? Love the tweets? Love it in the NFL?

Derrick Mason Retires
Derrick Mason of the Baltimore Ravens has decided to retire. This will be a hit to the team that has lost some big names this season. Derrick will be greatly missed by the Ravens. He was one of my favorite wide receivers. I hate to see him go. Here is what he had to say about it..
"I have been thinking about this since the season ended," Mason told jocklife.com. "Emotionally I am just not that enthused. I have not been that enthused to get up and work out … it was getting to that point."
So goodbye to another awesome player!

WCW SUPERDRAFT
That's right folks the draft is fast approaching! The draft structure has changed to a Live Draft. So this should be exciting! Unfortunately, CBSSports changed their fantasy draft setup so we can no longer do automated the way we use to. So the league voted for a live draft. As always is customary we will be doing a disc golf day after the draft. The draft has been bumped to August 15th and disc golf day will be August 16th. More to come on location.
So everyone plan on being logged into cbssport.com by 1pm on August 15th. If you will not be able to make it, be sure to set your rankings!
See you there!

Madden Curse
The Madden Curse, the most feared curse in all of sports. So feared that there is a rumor that LaDainian Tomlinson turned down the 2008 cover to avoid the Madden Curse. However, it looks like he was cursed anyways!
So will Larry Fitzgerald be cursed? Will the Defensive immunity stand true this year? Only time will tell...
**UPDATED- due to be unable to see entire table I have created a pdf file.**

WCW MAJOR Draft Changes...
Well CBS Sports has decided to change the draft format for fantasy football. We always have done automated draft. Well they have changed how the automated draft works. You use to have to setup rankings by rounds. Now you just setup rankings and that is how it drafts.
So the WCW did a vote and decided on changing the format this year from automated draft to live draft.
I personally am not a big fan of the change. I would have liked to give the new automated draft format a chance. One of my favorite parts of the fantasy season is draft preparation. With live draft I really do not need to spend any time on preparing as I will know what I want to pick each time my turn comes up. The strategy has decreased in my opinion. But I was out voted so I guess I will like it or leave it.

Tips for Draft Prep

I came across a cool article on Tips for a Successful Fantasy Draft Prep. The writer went into how this time of year is the dreaded "waiting period" and how its the best time to start your homework for the next season. He made this statement in the article that I agree with completely, "Although a good draft does not guarantee you Fantasy Football Supremacy, a bad one will wreck your season. " So read the tips below and start doing your homework for the 2009 Fantasy Football season.
Below is a list of the 5 Tips he had for Draft prep...
1. Project players fantasy points - He goes into making sure you understand how your league scores points and setting up your "guesses" for how a player's stats may be for that year. Then convert that to fantasy points. And voila!, you have your list of players, now you need to rank them.
2. Get current on NFL off season moves - This one is self explanatory. You need to know where some people are now to see how that will affect their stats versus the previous year.
3. Review and Learn the NFL Schedules - This is important when setting your player rankings, b/c you can end up with one of those dreaded half of your starters have the same bye week situations. The bye weeks are also important for the playoff weeks as well!
4. Note Defensive Matchups in Playoff Weeks - This is important for making sure you have the best possible matchup for the playoff weeks. Who wouldn't love Petterson versus Detriot?
5. Participate in Mock Drafts - I personally do not see the advantage to mock drafts. I know there is some people who love them, but I do not get it. The writer suggests getting other people in your league to participate in a mock draft...but who is going to give away their "real" draft plan during a mock? The writer believes it is important b/c you get to see what people believe player values are and readjust your round strategies.
I hope these tips were helpful or at least provided a checklist for things to do prior to draft.
Now get out there and do your homework!

League is Open!
The league officially opened last night. Login to your cbssports.com account and join us. I know many were anticipating the opening of the league so they can get started on developing their draft strategies. I know I am. I hope to get some guest visitors to the blog, to discuss draft strategies and etc., more to come on this..
**Note: Charlie Brown picture has nothing to do with the league, I just though it was cute!**

WCW & NFL Rumor Mill

I recently was checking out the WCW site (link on the right side of the blog) and came across a newer feature called "Rumor Mill". I think this awesome. I love reading up on the gossip. They even mentioned some NFL network TV sightings of our own WCW owner's! Keep any eye out of the website as it is always updating with new content!

Peyton- Mr. Cool and Calm?
We all know how openly, unhappy Peyton has been recently in Colt's land about the coaching situation. If I was a Colts fan I would be concerned. It must really be a mess for Peyton to start being openly annoyed about it. Well it looks like the owner of the Colt's has worked out a deal to get the coaches that left as consultants by the start of training camps. So maybe Peyton will get back to Mr. Cool, Calm, and Collected. You can see more about it at the link below....

What do you think the record will be for Colts this year?
Do you think all will be well in Colt land or that it will continue to be mess?

Interview with WCW
I recently did an interview with WCW reviewing some of the top things those in the league have been dieing to ask me. I think the interview went well and I was thrilled to be able to expand on some things like my capabilities as a fantasy owner and others involvement in achieving my success. I think its a great read, here is the link check it out! http://wcwfflnc.sports.officelive.com/newsinterviews.aspx
BTW, you can view past interviews that WCW has held as well; go to the website wcwfflnc.sports.officelive.com and click on Owner's Bio there is a link to their archives and achievements, and follow the links to the interview. I think they are very interesting and answer a lot of the questions many people in the league have been curious about.

How 'bout dem Cowboys!
Well the beloved/hated Dallas Cowboys cut the ribbon on their new stadium today. Its a massive structure and a pretty darn cool lookin'. They made the costs more affordable for the average patron; around $40 but luxury boxes are going for around $3mil. The first event at the Cowboys' new digs will be a concert by country-music star George Strait two weeks from now. Which I find to be kind of funny since you would think they would let it open with a football game.....but I guess they have to start working hard to get it paid for. :)
- You like the new digs?
- You think the 1st even should have been a football game?

Love Him/Hate Him
I must say I love Terrell Owens. I think he is hilarious. He has done some of the best stunts in the game (Dallas Cowboy Star (favorite!)). He is also great with the media. I enjoy watching him on tv. I hope that when he quits playing football he gets a job at NFL network as a host. Yesterday on NFL network they showed TO doing some hosting for a local tv station in Buffalo. I think he did a great job. Personally I hope he leaves the game soon so I can enjoy watching him host. I think I will enjoy watching him, like I do Deion Sanders (who I hated until he became a host at NFL Network).
- So do you love him/hate him?
- Do you want to see him become a host?

I am not a big fan of Family Guy but I thought this was pretty good. As a football fan you will get a kick out of it.

Surprise... Surprise!!

I don't know about all of you...But I grew so tired hearing about the Brett Favre retired/not saga last year. I was hoping after he retired this year it would be the end of this controversy. Well surprise surprise!!! The rumor mill is flying again!!!
Word around the league is that Brett is meeting with the Vikings and if he does not require surgery he will be signing with them. As most people believe, including myself, the Vikings are a QB away from being a good contender for the Super Bowl. But I am just not sure that they or Brett need to go back down this road again.
I personally feel that Brett should just stay retired. However, I can see his point and if he wants to play and someone wants him, who can blame him. I just wish he would not say he is retiring after the season and sign a 1 year deal so he can move around as he pleases.
What do you think?
- Time for Brett to stay retired?
- Good decision by the Vikings?
- Tired of hearing about it?

Fan Frustration!

I have been a long time Washington Redskins fan. I have never liked anyone else. But my frustration with the organization keeps building and building! I am a big fan of Jason Campbell. I think he has the potential to become our franchise quarterback. However, it seems that Washington does not think so. Which frustrates me, do they really think Sanchez is going to better than Campbell? Then we follow that up with how they handle their search. Luckily for them Campbell has alot of class so he did not pull the same crap Cutler did. But I am sure that he will be looking to get out of Washington as soon as he gets a chance. They made it very clear they do not want him. Overall, I have to be happy with the decisions they make or move on to another team...sometimes the latter option seems like the best option.
How about you? Do you get frustrated with your favorite team?

Jaguar Makeover

The Jacksonville Jaguars have changed their look via a press release yesterday afternoon. The new uniforms will be teal and white @ home and white and black while away. The new helmet is still the same with a slight hint of teal glitter. They also updated the logo.
Jack Del Rio had this to say about the new look....
"There was a real desire to get back to a real clean look, something we think will have a timelessness about it," Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio said. "Anytime there's something new, it's fresh, it's exciting and it ties in perfectly with the draft this weekend. We're going to have a freshness about us. Anybody who's been around our organization over the last several weeks or months understands there's a real freshness about it, a lot of energy."
Personally, I don't really see that big of a change...they could have changed it and not mentioned it and no one would have noticed. Heck, I can't find a difference in the logo no matter how long I stare at it.
- Do you see a big difference?
- Do you like it?
- Can you find the difference in the logo?

Vick comes barking at the door...
Yes, Michael Vick is wanting to be reinstated to the NFL. And by the sound of it Goodell will probably let him back in.
"I will want to meet with Michael, I will want to meet with his people, I will want to meet with other professionals to understand: Does he understand the mistakes he made, and is he genuine and have remorse for those actions, and is he prepared to handle himself differently going forward? That will ultimately be my decision," Goodell said.
Personally, I think he has paid his debt to society and should be allowed back in. Now as for what team would want him...thats another story.
- Do you think Michael Vick will be reinstated?
- What team do you think would be interested in him?

The end of an era...
One of the greatest and in my opinion the #1 announcers in football is retiring after this season. John Madden has decided that after 30 years of announcing NFL football games it was time to set the microphone down.
In a statement released by NBC Sports today, Madden had this to say “It’s time, I’m 73 years old. My 50th anniversary is this fall.” He added: “It’s been such a great ride. The NFL has been my life for more than 40 years, it has been my passion — and still is.”
He will be greatly missed by the NFL fans, no one will be able to replace him. The speculation is that Cris Collinsworth, NBC’s lead studio analyst and the co-host on “Football Night in America” and NFL Network game analyst may take his place on the Sunday Night Football games for NBC.
There are two things about NFL football I never wanted to see change is the introduction to Monday Night Football with Hank Williams Jr and John Madden announcing. Well it looks like one of them is going away...how long till the next?

Prospective Rookie Drama
Once considered to be a top 5 pick coming out of the draft, Andre Smith, seems to be doing everything he can to reduce his value. His stock has been going down the tubes. After he made his announcement to enter the 09 draft he has done one thing after another to deter teams from looking at him. His suspension at the Sugar Bowl, terrible performance (or lack there of) at the NFL draft, the below average pro-day and the most recent news of the maybe/maybe not firing of his agent Keels has his stock dropping like a rock. It seems that he is doing everything wrong these days.
So....
- How do you think these actions will affect him?
- How far will Smith fall?
- Is this immaturity, overconfidence or just plain dumb?

The Detriot Lions use their 1st pick to select.....

NO ONE...that is what many of the nfl blogs and sources are saying. They believe the Lions will say "I pass" on the 1st pick in the draft. It's widely predicted that they want Matthew Stafford but do not want to shell out the money that accompanies a 1st draft pick.
Which brings up an interesting question...
Should rookies be paid so much money coming straight out of the draft?
In my opinion 'No' they should not. I feel that it is silly to pay BIG bucks to a player that has not proved their worth to your team. It seems that we overlook the players that have been staples of franchises when salary bonuses, etc. come along. Not to mention the fact that the 1st draft pick is suppose to assist the worst team in the league, get the best player out of the draft. The problem with the current scenario is that the amount of paycheck that is provided to that 1st draft pick means franchises end up putting all their eggs in one basket, that often times ends up being a dud.

A Giant Goodbye...

Giants said goodbye to their #1 play maker, Plaxico Burress, this week. The delay in the process to handle his legal troubles lead to the Giants finally releasing him. It seems that they were finally tired of dealing with the constant issues that Plaxico seemed to bring to them. They have been a team that did not put up with troublemakers and seems that they are going to continue to hold that reputation.
The release of him brings about many questions....
- Who will be the Giants #1 receiver?
- Will they try to pull someone out of free agency? If so, who?
- Will they try to draft someone and start them right out the gate?
- How will Manning handle not having his star receiver?
- Does this affect how you will draft Manning?
- Where is Plaxico headed?
- Will he be signed before his next court date (June 15th)?
- Will he receive a big contract (money/length)?
It will be interesting to see how the Giants do without their star wide receiver and where Plaxico lands if not in jail.
